Select the File » New » Componentcommand from the main menus. Alternatively, selectFile» New» Libraryfrom the main menus, then in theNew Librarydialog that opens, selectCreate Library Content» Componentfrom theWorkspaceregion of the dialog.

In the Create new component dialog that opens, choose a component type. If there is a component template linked khổng lồ the selected component type, this templatewill be used to lớn predefine the component with the data from it.

Define the component by adding its details in the Component editor:


In the Component region of the Component Editor, definethe component"sName and Description. These details are essential for further component search when it comes lớn use a needed component in your design project.

Click the Advanced Settings control to define or change some other component details such as the component"s Id used for the saved component in the Workspace và Folderin the target Workspace where the component will be saved.

In the Parameters region of the Component editor, define further component details: standard parameters,URL links to website pages (for example, a manufacturer"s website), and links todatasheets (in any format).

In the Part Choicesregion of the Component editor, specify one or more
Part Choicesfor the component – the "allowed" manufacturer parts that can be used khổng lồ implement the component on the assembled board.

With the component defined, select the File » Save to Servercommand from the main menus khổng lồ save the component to the Workspace. TheEdit Revisiondialog will appear, in which you can change the Nameand description and showroom release notes as required. The editor will close after the save.

To create a new component similar lớn an existing component in your Workspace, you can clone this component. In the Components panel, browse lớn a required component, right-click on it, and select the Operations » Clone command. File-based Libraries

An Designer file-based library is an arbitrary collection of models or components. How the models or components are organized into libraries is up to lớn you. You might structure your libraries around device suppliers, or you might cluster components by function, for example, with a library for all of the microcontrollers your company uses.

Schematic component symbols are created in schematic libraries (*.Sch
Lib). The components in these libraries then reference footprints & other models defined in separate footprint libraries (*.Pcb

The Components Panel


The Components panel provides direct access khổng lồ all available components, including Workspace,databaseand file-based library components, in Designer.
